It's Not Science Fiction...

Today, my little brother left for the Air Force.  And I am sad.  Having lived together for almost a year now that we've been back... I got used to his presence.  And it is sad to think that this house that's been full of people, with my brother being the first to leave, is slowly starting to empty {again}.

And as much as my older sister heart is sad, I can't imagine what his new wife, and my beautiful sister-in-law must be going through.  And so today, we took some lovely last photos until they'll be reunited again after he graduates Basic Training!

And we said goodbye at Mimi's Cafe!  My little brother gave me the biggest headaches, some of my worst heartbreaks, and all the frustrating moments I can think of, but he also became my best friend, uncle to my daughter and brother to my husband, and the memories we created are treasured deep!  I miss him like crazy!

  1. The beautiful thing about your blog is that every time I see a picture of you and your husband, I think of all the times I saw you together in high school! It's truly amazing!

  3. i know exactly how your family and sister in law feels. it's hard, but it gets easier everyday. it's the weirdest thing. we're on our second deployment now and while it's challenging, it's not nearly as hard as the first time he left for basic training. to be honest, you get a little "harder" every time. it's probably just a way to protect our hearts.

  4. Oh Jhen, I know how you're feeling :( My brother left for the Army in May. He's still doing his AIT over in Virginia before his placement in Hawaii mid-December. Isaac had a really hard time because Jordon is his O Ju-Ju and very special to him. We wrote lots of letters to him in basic and his AIT!

  5. Dang, you guys are like twins! :) I'll pray for him. God will protect him! Great shots of them, I'm sure his wife will treasure these until she sees him again.

on another note, LOVE your boots. Now, I must save for them and wait until Christmas, but i LOVE them!!! :)

  6. Sending hugs and prayers to your family! I know how your sister in law feels. It's a very lonely feeling that is overshadowed-at times-by this insane amount of pride for what he's doing. Just offer her a shoulder to cry on if she needs it and lots of encouragement. :-)
