The Places She'll Go

With no end in sight, this girl has places to go, people to meet, and a world to take on.  It seemed like just yesterday I was watching her lie on her tummy thinking "oh the day she'll crawl", and today all I see is her backside and she's constantly running away from me.

This girl has her sights set on what is ahead, but every so often I'll see her look back to make sure we're right there behind her.

I'd like to think that we're an adventurous family.  I really would.  But every time I get in the car, scenarios run through my head and I begin to worry about what would happen to Josselyn if she was the only survivor.  Real scenarios some families have faced.  And I find myself mentally wanting to scoop her up and retreat to our cozy corner in our home.  It always sounds splendid at the time, but that just isn't who we are.  That isn't who she is.

She's a risk taker.  A boo boo maker.  And sometimes, a little cry faker.  But she's one heck of a bundle that I can't get enough of.

So in those seconds, I question our safety, her future and my Trust in Christ, I'm reminded that even if it does happen, there is something so good to come of her life, whether I'm in it or not.  Her future is so intricately ready to be played out in such a way that I can't even dream of.  So as she rides ahead I embrace supporting her, encouraging her, and coaching her on even if that means that sometimes, I'll be watching from behind.

  2. I can't even imagine the emotions of fear that could take over when I become a mother. So thankful we have Christ to lay our burdens down to, right?! Whenever I'm overwhelmed with anxiety from the world, I hum the children's song "He's got the whole world, in his hands..." It's silly, but it's so true. And could these picture be any cooler?! I'm obsessed. They should be framed! You're so talented!

  4. Oh my gosh, your words really spoke to me. A recent {like since I had my first 6 1/2 yrs ago} fear of mine is what if I'm not around for them. You are right, the Lord has bigger and better plans than we know.

  9. I love that lonely road. What a great idea for pictures. She's such a little cutie.

By what I hear, you're not alone in your fears. Its good to have a plan but just not dwell on the what ifs, since like you said, gotta trust in Christ. He's taking care of it all. :)

  13. Enjoy every moment, they sure do grow up too fast. I have felt that way too ... maybe even more now that my girl is sixteen. Where do the years go? Kiss her often, hug her daily and affirm her always. Tell her every day how beautiful she is, not just because of how cute or pretty she is but because her heart is beautiful, her smile shines and because the core of who she is .... is pure delight. :)
