Before/After Pixel Perfect

I have another photo, I think you might have seen it on my blog before, but this time I edited it differently.  So here goes...

I took this photo with my Nikon D5000 and edited in CS5.  I needed my black and white to pop, so here's what I did...

  • First I opened in ACR and adjusted the clarity and saturation.
  • Then I used the Selective Color tool to adjust the pink and blues to affect their result once in black and white.
  • I then changed the image to black and white which made the image too soft for my liking.
  • So I sharpened the image making the lines bolder (I prefer The Paper Mama's Brighten Me Action, although on this I only used the Sharpen Action).
  • Lastly I ran a Brown Solid color Layer and set it to "Soft Light" and lowered the opacity to 14%
