New England

Jon and I have been back now for two days and today is the first day apart since last Tuesday. He went back to work which officially ends our vacation.

About a month and a half ago Jon and I realized we needed to get away. Life had kind of taken it's toll on us as individuals and as a married couple. Even though we had stayed so invested in our marriage group, things got tougher and tougher, especially with dealing with the loss of our first baby. Emotionally we were both drained and we started to take it out on each other, which was the LAST thing we needed. So the first thing to do, is to get away to take time to spend soley on each other and our marriage.
Things weren't desperate for us, but we knew that if we didn't work on it now, it would only get harder and harder, so we stopped it as soon as we could. One of the projects we did in our marriage group was to think of the most romantic date we had ever been on and discuss it between the two of us. Neither of us could think of anything. Not to say that in our 5 years of dating we didnt work daily at showing each other that we loved the other, but that we never took the time to do something specifically for ouselves as a couple. So that meant that we needed a Romantic break from reality for a while. And we did just that!

Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of going to Maine, in fact as a teenager I made a check list of things I wanted to do before I die and traveling to Maine was one of them. So it only seemed fitting that Maine would be the place that Jon and I would reconnect far away from everything we've known. And so we went.
It was amazing. We stayed at some amazing Inn's and Bed & Breakfasts. We saw the most beautiful foliage and we managed to travel right between the tourist times (ends in September and begins at the end of October) so it was like it was only the two of us that Maine was catering too. :0)

We traveled first to Portland, ME, then drove up to Fyeburg, ME where we stayed but visited New Hampshire for the day, then we ended our trip in Belfast, ME. We truly got to experience the Foliage. Here are just a few of the pics from our trip:
