An Apology

I have to apologize!  In my last post I wrote something I didn't intend to mean, so I must correct myself!

There are so many new and upcoming photographers (myself being one) and most, if not all, are incredibly GREAT!!!!  I know I've entered a world that is based off of Art and Income.  And I think that there is NOTHING wrong with people following their passion and hobby in order to provide for their family and start a career that not only fulfills themselves, but brings life into other's by the pictures they take!

I'm sorry if I came across as negative about photographers in my last post!  I think that every family should have the chance to own a DSLR in order to have the quality of moments in their lives captured, and if in turn that leads to a budding business, then I'M ALL FOR IT (that's how I started *wink*).

I struggled with the ability to be a photographer worth people's time and business.  I started drowning in a sea of amazing photographers taking off in their career.  And I had to come up with one last creative pull to see if I can make it.  And I think that everyone deserves a chance!  EVERYONE!  Including YOU!

And I've had my fair share of photographers that gave me the cold shoulder or the downright rude opinion that I suck... and I don't want to be that kind of person in this business to anyone else!  So to any of you wanting or already have started a photography business, I say GO FOR IT!  And if you have the talent, then you DESERVE to be here!

So, my previous post probably came across as a snobby-better-than-you kind of attitude and I GREATLY APOLOGIZE!  I'm so very sorry!

  1. I dont think you could come across snobby if you tried! I didnt take it that way at all! But what you said was true, and I have some strong feelings about the change in the portrait photography world :) You are making an effort to set yourself apart, and want to make the experience special for clients! You are talented, you do your research, and you have a distinct style from what I have seen. It is people like you who truly deserve the business. :) If someone has the talent, is devoted to the craft, and put that effort into it, then absolutely they deserve a chance too!

  4. I am an ameteur photographer at best and I've been taking pictures since I was 8. Landscape photography is my ultimate fav, so hopefully that will set me apart like you were talking about. I could take pictures of mountains all day. I realize that may sound boring to people..lol.. I began developing my own film at 15 all the way up to about five yrs ago. YES, FILM! Did you know Kodak doesn't even do film anymore? Digital photography is way fun though and I am enjoying it. I am so glad people have come to love such a beautiful sport.I am not that much of a business woman. I just love photography..lol..I am learning a lot about the business world though and I am enjoying it. . You have been doing great Jhen and you have a passion for photography which some photographers do not. They just do it for the money. Money is great and we all need it but I think the ones that last for the most part are the ones who are ultimately passionate for photography in itself. Jhen, thank you for jump starting my blog. It gave me the confidence to go out there and create something I've been wanting to do for years. I appreciate it with all my heart :) If my little business drowns then I will just keep taking pictures. I really hope it doesn't! Until then I will be praying for God's will in this world of many photographers. You are doing wonderful and I pray for God to keep blessing you and your family! <3 Rosa <><

  5. I love the fact that you and I have the same passion. It's amazing that we have something in common, and we love it SO much. I also love that our photography business is shooting in two different directions. I am struggling SO badly financially (you feel my pain), and I am trying to grow my business so I have some sort of income to rely on (as you're doing the same). Your Stark Love photography business is beautiful, Jhen. I see it sprouting and growing and I LOVE it. I'm here to stand on the sidelines and cheer you and Jon on (hip-hip-HOORAY!)! I have said it once, and I will say it a million more times... THANK YOU for all you have done for me. You grabbed my hand and guided me through. I am where I am... because of you. You are such an amazing mentor. Thank you for all of your love and encouragement. You are an amazing friend, mentor, and PHOTOGRAPHER!
