Three Years

Really, has it been that long?  I can remember it like it was yesterday and it was beautiful!

3 years ago, today I married a man whom I had dated for five years prior.  We were high school sweethearts.  Two young kiddos from completely different worlds.  But we were in love.  We are in love!

But there's things I've learned about the boy I first met in math class when he offered to take my homework up (only to copy it for his own homework)... this is what I've learned:

  • Jon loves cereal.  All kinds of cereal.  He will eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if he could.
  • The kitchen will never really be my kitchen.  Because, to Jon, I can never really cook it right or clean it right.  The kitchen will always be his domain (although I will be the one to decorate and call it mine).
  • To Jon, I am a terrible driver (although I think I'm rather ok) and on rare occasions he will spoil me by letting me drive him somewhere nearby.
  • Jon loves children!  He would sell his life and cross the country for a group of boys, and then cross a country back for his little girl.
  • Jon does not believe in running errands alone.  He loves to shop together, go to the bank together, and all the like together (Jon just likes us to be together, and I'm rather fond of his desire to be around me).
  • Jon likes to eat dinner as a family at the dinner table and never on the couch in front of the TV (are you kidding me, I grew up on TV dinners in front of America's Funniest Home Videos).
  • Jon is exactly like my dad!  EXACTLY!
  • Jon will have a nervous break down if we ever run out of milk (so yes, we are those people in the grocery store with a years supply of milk in our buggy)!
  • Ice cold milk is the only milk Jon will drink.
  • UFC has officially become my life.
  • Jon is open to discussing how he feels and how I make him feel, both the good and the bad.
  • He finds me most attractive when I am 9 months preggo.
  • Jon is very loyal to his friends (and although he only has a small few, they are his great friends).
  • He will get me a glass of water at any time in the middle of the night, even if he is sleeping.
  • Jon LOVES to do laundry (so I gladly handed that over when we got married).
  • "We don't have any money" doesn't really mean we don't have any money.
  • Jon drives me absolutely crazy!  He knows exactly what buttons to push and often enjoys pushing them on purpose!
  • Jon writes lyrics and keeps them on random scrap papers and leaves them around the room and can never seem to find them.
  • Jon sings in the shower, toilet, and pretty much anywhere where he thinks no one can hear him.
  • Jon hates that I leave the bathroom door open when I use the restroom (please tell me I'm not the only one that does that in the privacy of my home).
  • I am and will always be his best friend!
  • Mama Mia is one of his favorite movies.
  • He can quote every line in EVERY Austin Power's movie.
  • He is not afraid to cry.
  • He will do anything to sacrifice of himself in order to provide safety, love, and security for his family.
I love and respect every detail of a man God created him to be.  He is my best friend, life partner, and father of my little one.  He is the man I entrust my life and heart to and I am thankful that he wanted me to go through life together, to grow old together, and to fight with, and kiss and make up with.  Happy Three Amazing Years!
